Golda is a Yiddish female name meaning “gold”, derived from Proto-Germanic *gulþą (gold) derived from a PIE root word, as well as a surname originating from the given name. Golda was also an Old English male name meaning “gold” (Golde being the feminine form of the name).

Goldie is also a variant form of Golda, as well as used a nickname for someone who had blond hair, or who worked as a goldsmith. Goldie is also a Scottish surname, either originating as a diminutive of Gold, or as a nickname for someone who had an unusual pigmentation of one eye.
