Logan comes from a Scottish surname meaning “little hollow” from Gaelic lag (hollow) with the diminutive suffix -an. Logan may also be an anglicized form of Gaelic surname Ó Leocháin meaning “descendant of Leochán”,  the latter of unknown meaning.
