Bradley comes from an English surname derived from a place name meaning “broad clearing” from Old English brād (broad) derived from Proto-Germanic *braidaz (broad, wide) from an unknown source; and lēah (clearing, meadow) from PIE *lówkos (clearing). Bradley has also been used as an anglicized form of Irish surname Ó Brolcháin meaning “descendant of Brolachán”, Brolachán meaning a diminutive of Brólach.
