Velma

Velma is an English female name of uncertain origin. It’s been linked as a variant form of Wilma, originally used as a short form of Wilhelmina which is the feminine form of Wilhlem, the German cogante of William meaning “desiring protection” or “willfull protection” from Germanic elements wil (will, desire) and helm (helmet, protection).
