Damson

Damson is the name of a subspecies of plum. The name comes from Latin (prunum) damascenum meaning “plum of Damascus” because it was believed that they were first cultivated around the ancient city of Damascus, Syria in antiquity. Damson is also used to refer to a type of dark purple or dark blue color.
