Angelo

Angelo is the Italian form of Angel which comes from Latin Angelus meaning “angel” via Greek angelos (messenger) though it seems to have an older source, perhaps related to angaros (mounted courier) which might come from an Asian language, though it might also be related to Sanskrit ajira (swift). Angelo is also an Italian word meaning “angel” as well as an Italian surname derived from the given name.
