Columbine

Columbine is the name of a variety of flowers belonging to the genus Aquilegia. The name comes from Latin columba meaning “dove, pigeon” which derives from Ancient Greek kólumbos (a diver). Columbine is a beautiful name though one that will unfortunately be associated with the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado.
